OUR MISSION

A Brighter Day was founded to help teens and young adults recognize and cope with stress and depression.

Life can be hard as you transition into adulthood.

It's okay to feel confused and lost.

It's okay to feel like you don't have the emotional resources to deal with life's challenges.

It's okay to be less than perfect.

No matter how hard it is, or how hard it gets, you'll always be able to make it through.

You have to stop thinking that you'll be stuck in your situation forever.

We feel like our heart will never heal, or we'll never get out of this impossible struggle.

Don't confuse a season for a lifetime—even your trials have an expiration date.

You will grow, life will change, and things will work out.

the story behind

A Brighter Day

We founded A Brighter Day in 2015 in memory of my son, Jake Kallen.

Every year, tens of thousands of teenagers struggle with thoughts of helplessness, isolation, depression, and suicide. Sadly, the parents of these teens are the last to learn this, and sometimes after it's too late to take action.

A Brighter Day was founded to help spread awareness about how to recognize and find help for depression, and to build community through social events.

From my family to yours, I thank you for being part of A Brighter Day Charity.

A Brighter Day presents

What is it?

Got talent? We want to see it!

Whether you're a singer-songwriter, ballet dancer, magician, or comedian, A Brighter Day wants you to join us in our annual Teen Talent Showcase!

Our Virtual Teen Talent Showcase offers an opportunity for teenage performers to showcase their talent for the chance to win college scholarship prize money!

Our judges are all professional musicians and artists. You'll be judged on originality, content, performance quality and more.

When does it start and end?

The Teen Talent Showcase will start accepting auditions in January 2021.

Every month, we'll hold a Zoom show of all our monthly semifinalists.

Our Grand Prize winner will be announced in May 2021.

How can I participate?

You can audition for the Teen Talent Showcase from the comfort & safety of your own home!

A Brighter Day is accepting video auditions from all over the world. It couldn't be any easier—just sign in and submit your audition. We watch every video!

Thanks to our generous donors and friends, we are now offering College Scholarships!

Your scholarship money will cover your textbooks for up to four years, up to $500 per semester or $1,000 per year.

Each year, we'll invite you to reapply for a similar scholarship.
